Years ago I purchased a relatively blind box at Auction that still today is by far my most successful purchase ever. It cost me 50 English pounds which ended up after costs to be about $100 Aussie dollars at the time ( for 60 mint cars ). Now this was from a very reputable Diecast Auction house so I'm not sure what happened because they should have known the value of the contents and at least separated them for their sake , alas , it turned out to be my gain . In the description of the box it did mention it held the entire loose set of the rare Sam's Club Collectors set ( including the white Dodge Toyman ), but I didn't even know what the heck that was at the time . It also held , which is what I was really interested in was a set of drab olive Army vehicles . Now , getting to the whole point of this story is , it had a variety of 80's blue boxes with a few having repetitions . One such car was the Matchbox Skoda 130 LR which had the most at 4 items . I was so chuffed at the rest of the contents in my box that the Skoda's , along with most of the other blue boxes went into deep storage . It wasn't until years later I saw a blog post on the Skoda that I realized what I had overlooked in this beautiful little piece all these years . Since then , well , let's just say it's become a little sub obsession of mine now . I just love it to bits , warts and all , and as anyone who knows it ,it has a few , namely the many paint imperfections and chipping to the rear opening boot area .
As this was virtually a one and done model , the only difference in collecting these are the boxes they came in , and whilst I have a few , some still illude me , like the Japanese box pictured below .
